Erika Tòth – New post doc in the Pheromone Group

A person is sitting on a bridge over a river.

Hi everyone!

I recently joined the Pheromone Group to work with Christer Löfstedt on modelling and molecular engineering of insect enzymes to alter their substrate specificity and to understand how the function of the protein depends on its three-dimensional structure.

I received my M.Sc. in Molecular biology at the University of Szeged (Hungary). As a Master student, I designed a field-applied bioslurping method using biodegradable rhamnolipid to facilitate degradation of crude oil from the capillary zone of a polluted industrial area. During my Ph.D. at the University of Eastern Piedmont (Italy), I focused on the development and potential therapeutic use of recombinant proteins to understand and target the molecular mechanisms underlying the progression of autoimmune diseases and cancer.

I like to spend my free time watching american football or other sport events, hanging out and having good conversations and travel a lot.

See you around!
