Sandra Smiljanic – new lab technician

A person is sitting behind tulips with a lake in the background.

My name is Sandra Smiljanic and I work as a laboratory/cell technician at the Department of Biology.

I am currently working alongside the amazing Ewa Dahlberg and eventually will be taking over her job assignments as she retires. I work in Prof. Stina Oredssons group, who is working with cancer cells, but ultimately I am going to help other groups at the Department of Biology. My job assignments vary and will include everything from cell culturing, immunohistochemistry, assisting in courses, general upkeep of the lab but also my own projects.

I have a Master’s degree in molecular biology with specialization in medical biology. Previously I have been working as a technical staff in the groups of Neurodegenerative Molecular Biology and Developmental Neurobiology at the Biomedical Center (BMC), Lund. There I was working mostly with lentiviral production, cloning, cell culturing and testing and establishing new novel techniques.

Originally I am from a town called Jönköping, but have been living in Lund for the past 9 years. In my spare time I like to hang out with friends and family, to take long walks or read a book.
