What’s happening with the web?

Right now we are making a joint effort to have a professional web site. With a web lacking in information and appearance it’s really hard for our visitors to find what they are looking for, if not they’ll leave our web pages and find what they need somewhere else. And they form their opinion about us from what they have or not have seen.

Our newly formed web group will work with our web site. The goal is to have a “finished” web in the middle of October. The members of the group are Jep Agrell, Inger Ekström, Anders Hedenström, Anders Lundquist, Christer Löfstedt, Frida Rosengren and Jochen Smolka.

The group’s first step was to send out the forms for personal web pages. Don’t forget to send them filled in back to Jochen.Smolka@biol.lu.se no later than the 28/9! We are also working with the research groups’ web pages, to verify that they are updated and to apply the standard LU graphical design. The internal web pages and the course web site will also be revised.

This is not a matter of what YOU think is the best for the web, but an united effort to make the best both for the web user and the department. Remember that you just have between 7 and 10 seconds to catch the reader. Keep the text concise and reasonable short and don’t forget who you’re writing to.

Please help us make a great web site!

If you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them.
