Hampus Petrén – new PhD student

Hej! My name is Hampus Petrén and I just started as a PhD student at the Biodiversity unit. I did my bachelors and masters studies at Uppsala university, as well as the first year of my PhD.

Now however I am excited to continue my PhD studies at Lund university. My supervisor, Magne Friberg, started a position here and I decided to come along. My research revolves around plant mating systems, floral traits and plant-insect interactions. More specifically, I study different European populations of the alpine plant Arabis alpina to investigate how floral signals, such as flower morphology and floral scent, vary between self-compatible and self-incompatible population, and how such variation affects/is affected by interactions with insects.
