Elton Melo – new postdoc

What I work with

My name is Elton Melo, from Brazil. I recently joined Anders Enjin´s research group to investigate the neural basis of hygrosensation in Drosophila melanogaster. My post-doctoral research will involve developing microfluidic devices to study humidity receptor neurons signaling dynamics applying calcium/voltage imaging and whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology.

My Background

I received my PhD in 2016 from the Federal University of Alagoas in Brazil. My thesis focused on developing different analysis methods applying capillary and microchip electrophoresis with fluorescence detection to determine neuroactive amino acids in microdialysis sample. During my PhD, I also spent a year at the University of Kansas where I had the opportunity to work with different microfabrication techniques.
