Kristina Corthals – new postdoc

Hi, I am Kristina Corthals and together with Elton Melo I am one of the new postdocs working with Anders Enjin.

I just finished my PhD at the University of Göttingen, where I studied the behavioural adaptations of both locomotion and courtship to light deprivation in Drosophila melanogaster. Since this involved spending a lot of time in small and dark rooms, I am very excited to now do some research that allows me to work in light conditions again. During my time in Lund I will try to understand the neuronal basis of hygrosensation in insects using single cell RNA sequencing of the antenna, to find possible candidate genes, patching of S2 cells and hopefully developing a fast and reliable behavioural assay to test for intact hygrosensation.
