Meet Pablo Salmon – new doctoral student in the Life History group

En person står i en trappa.

My name is Pablo Salmon, a new PhD student in the Evolutionary Ecology unit. I grew up in Bilbao, a medium-size city in the North of Spain, but I performed my master studies in Evolutionary Biology in the Complutense University of Madrid. In my master thesis I studied the costs of reproduction in the spotless starling (Sturnus unicolor). Here in Lund under the supervision of Dr. Caroline Isaksson and Professor Staffan Bensch I will study the impact of urbanization on wild birds. In this project I will specifically explore the effect of pollution on physiology (oxidative stress) and the possible molecular mechanisms involved in the adaptation of organisms to this anthropic ecosystem. For this aim we will use replicated pairs of urban/rural populations of birds in Sweden and in other European countries.
