Mohd Arif – new postdoc

Hello everyone,
Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Mohd Arif, and I’ve embarked on an exciting journey in the year 2024 by traversing half the globe to join the Evolutionary Ecology Unit, under the guidance of Jessica Abbot, as a postdoctoral fellow.

Here in Lund, we delve into the intricate world of evolutionary and developmental studies using the free-living flatworm Macrostomum lignano as our model organism. My focus lies on employing various techniques, notably Karyotyping, FISH and Flow cytometry, to unravel the mysteries of this fascinating creature.

Prior to my venture to Lund, I hailed from the beautiful region of Jammu & Kashmir, India. For the past couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as an Adhoc Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology at the Central University of Kashmir.

My educational journey has seen me through the corridors of the Department of Zoology, University of Jammu, where I completed my Masters, M.Phil., and Ph.D., specialising in various facets of biological sciences.

During my research endeavours, I have honed my expertise in genetics, cytogenetics, and molecular biology involving insects and fishes.

Beyond the confines of academia, I find solace in exploring new destinations and engaging with diverse cultures. The prospect of collaborating with like-minded individuals excites me, and I look forward to forging meaningful connections here at Lund University’s Department of Biology.

I extend a warm invitation to all potential collaborators to reach out and explore the possibilities of mutual growth and discovery.

Looking forward to connecting with you,

Warm regards,
Mohd Arif
