Mridula Nandakumar – new PhD student

Portrait of Mridula Nandakumar.

Hello! My name is Mridula Nandakumar and I have recently joined as a doctoral student in the Functional Zoology unit, under Lars Råberg, with Fredric Carlsson as my co-supervisor. I have a background in bioinformatics and biotechnology, with an interest in host-pathogen co-evolution, especially in wild systems. For my doctoral studies, I will be working to understand how polymorphisms influence immune response to infection by focusing on innate immune genes in bank voles.

I have spent my whole life in urban India and Sweden has been a very welcome change to the heat, noise and congestion. I read literary fiction during my spare time and cannot be without a cup of coffee. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
