Hi everyone! My name is Pablo Macías Torres and I am a PhD candidate in the Evolutionary Ecology unit under the supervision of Anders Hedenström. My research will be focused on bird migration and flight aerodynamics. I will conduct wind tunnel experiments together with the tracking of wild birds to gain insights into their intriguing migrations.

I grew up in Extremadura, Spain where I completed my undergraduate studies and got hooked on birding. After that, I moved to Copenhagen (where I currently live), and I completed a master’s in biology at the University of Copenhagen. For my Master´s thesis, I worked on accelerometer data along the annual cycle of red-backed shrikes. Now I am very excited to continue my academic carrier at Lund University, where I expect to develop both personally and professionally.

Work and hobbies partly overlap for me as I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities, but birdwatching is what I enjoy the most. I also like painting and travelling as well as trying new kinds of food. On top of that, I am always up for a beer.
