Qiujie Zhou – new postdoc

Portrait of Qiujie Zhou. Photo.

Hi, my name is Qiujie (Jay) Zhou. I’m from China and have recently joined Anna Runemark’s group as a PostDoc researcher.

Before moving to Lund, I obtained my PhD in Uppsala University, focusing on evolutionary genomics of Norway and Siberian spruce. I explored how hybridisation between spruce species shaped their demographic history and contemporary distribution, and how gene copy number variations contribute to their adaptation to environmental gradients. At Lund, I’m working on genomic and transcriptomic consequences of hybrid genome stabilisation, using both Italian sparrow and yeast as study systems.

I love outdoor activities and use to fishing and mushroom hunting a lot, and like playing ping pong and badminton. Looking forward to meeting you!
