Hello, my name is Shah Hussain, and I have recently joined Olivier Van Aken’s lab as a postdoctoral scientist in the Division of Molecular Biosciences.
My research interest lies in understanding how plant cells perceive and transduce external signals, and how they adapt to different environmental stresses.
Previously, I worked as a postdoctoral scientist at the Umeå Plant Science Centre at Umeå University in Sweden, where I focused on understanding how plants know when and how to die.
In Olivier Van Aken’s group, I will explore how mechanical stimulation reshapes plant responses to environmental stress, not only in model plants but also in cereal crops.
Outside the lab, I enjoy spending time exploring nature, cycling, swimming, watching movies, and travelling.
I am pleased to be here at Lund University and look forward to getting to know my colleagues and making new friends.
