Hi, my name is Stefan Skoglund, and I am a postdoctoral researcher at Lund University, where I started in November. I am part of the Hanö cod reef project together with Anders Persson, Helena Filipsson, and Josefin Larsson. I am interested in fish, fishing, and the sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems.
I have an academic background in fish and fisheries ecology, with a focus on population ecology and the ecological processes that shape fish populations. Outside academia, I have worked as an environmental consultant and within the recreational fishing industry, which has given me practical experience with aquatic environments and fisheries management.
My research focuses on how artificial reefs off the coast of Hanö support the recovery of cod populations in the Baltic Sea. I study how these reef structures function ecologically, as well as cod behaviour and movement patterns around the reefs. Within the project, we will develop machine learning techniques in order to analyse the vast amount of video material from the reefs.
