Hej! I’m Xiaojing and I started my PhD in microbial ecology in the spring semester of 2024, supervised by Johannes Rousk, Lettice Hicks and Albert Brangarí.
I used to focus on studying carbon cycling in shrub-encroached grassland. Here in Lund, I will mainly study the role of soil microbes in carbon sequestration in agroecosystems and estimate carbon accumulation across different depths to try to find out the carbon sequestration potential of different crops. We hope to incorporate our research into actions to mitigate climate change and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
Outside academia, I enjoy getting close to nature, such as hiking, hanging out in the botanical garden or going to the art gallery and staring at the paintings in a daze then spending a leisurely afternoon. Lund is the farthest place I have ever been, and everything is novel and fresh, I am ready to reap the infinite possibilities here.
By the way, my office is on the second floor of the Ecology Building, maybe we will have a chance to meet in the corridor or lunch room there ;).
