Hi!
My name is Anna Lindkvist and I recently started working as a financial administrator at the Department of Biology. My desk will be at the Prefect Office until the beginning of April. After that you will find me in Biology building B, room B-B233, next to Katarina Nygren.
I’m a trained accounting consultant and I have worked with finance and administration for many years, mostly in the computer and construction business. When I saw the advertisement for this job it immediately caught my attention. What an inspiring place to work in! I was very happy to get this job and I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and the work and research you do here.
I have three girls between the age of 7-12 and we live in Kävlinge outside Lund. I work as a group training instructor a couple of times a week and I also do crossfit. I like to go out running and going to the gym. Yes, I like to exercise, a lot, but I think it’s important, both physically and mentally. Exercise is a big key in keeping a healthy body and mind. So to those who go to Gerdahallen on your lunchbreak, I’ll be seeing you there!
Hi all!
My name is Theo Kindeberg and I have just started a PhD under the supervision of Pål Axel Olsson and Johan Hollander. I will be working in the EU project LIFECoastAdapt where I will study the ecosystem effects of coastal restoration actions.
My research interest revolves around coastal ecosystems in a changing world. Having spent countless hours in seagrass meadows has made me interested in the important ecosystem functions and services they sustain. During my PhD studies, I will primarily be exploring the effects of eelgrass (Zostera marina) restoration on biodiversity, beach morphology and wave- and current conditions.
When I’m not splashing around in the water, I enjoy hiking, biking and all things music. I’m looking forward to meeting you all!

Hej! My name is Jess and I am a new postdoc with Maj Rundlöf working on the effects of pesticide exposure on bees in farmland. I am interested in aspects of landscape ecology and biodiversity conservation; specifically, how changes in land management affect pollinator populations and pollination services. I have just moved here from the University of Exeter in the UK and I am looking forward to getting to know you all.
Nature has recently published two interesting articles about gender equality.
The first one is a review of the book ”The Gendered Brain: The New Neuroscience That Shatters The Myth Of The Female Brain”, by Gina Rippon. It discusses the surprisingly poor nature of the evidence for large structural differences between male and female brains in humans.
The second article showcases six men in research who are supporting gender equality work in various ways. It gives some inspiration and practical advice on how to help change the culture in STEM to become more equitable for all.
The Biology doctoral students council had a meeting on 25 January. Among other things they discussed a new BDR chair person, guest speaker 2019, PhD retreat, movie/pizza event and meeting with the new Head of the Department and the Directors of Studies. Hi everyone!
My name is Samantha and I recently started my PhD under the supervision of Helena Westerdahl at the Department of Biology. I have a Master degree in evolutionary ecology from France. Some people will recognize me because I did my Master project here at the department and since then, I never left!
I am very interested in host-pathogen interactions and especially by a key component of vertebrate’s immune system, the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC). The MHC is fascinating and the aim of my project is to investigate gene expression between different MHC gene copies and in relation to disease such as avian malaria infection, in songbirds.
I’m looking forward to meet people I haven’t met before and for people I already know, see you around!

Hej! I am a new postdoc, joining Tobias Uller’s research group on a Marie Curie Fellowship. My research project aims to understand how the post-natal social environment mediates the effects of prenatal stress, which I will test using social lizards in Tasmania. The first two years of my position here will actually be undertaken at Simon Fraser University in Canada, and at the University of Tasmania in Australia – but I will be back in Lund full time in 2021! In the meantime, I’m here till the end of this month and am looking forward to interacting with everyone in the department during this stay.
Hi all! My name is Johan K. Jensen and I have just started my PhD here at the Department of Biology and CEC, supervised by Caroline Isaksson. You might have seen me on the second floor for a year or two already, as I took both my BSc and MSc at the department and am quite fond of coffee!
My project focuses on the impact of urbanisation on organismal health and biodiversity, mainly looking at passerine birds. However, it is a broad study and includes insects as well as avian physiology, in addition to a lot of outreach and work with school children to learn about effects on their wellbeing from working with nature. The main theme is urban ecology, which has always been my biggest research interest. I hold a Bachelor’s in Biology and Master’s in Animal Ecology.
Outside of work I enjoy any and all activities outdoors, especially hiking. I’m also interested in art and literature, even when it is not biology related.
I’m looking forward to meet you all!
